Rod ends, uniballs and spacers

Compare rod ends and uniball components by their exact part number and dimensions. Rod-end thread diameter and bearing bore are separate measurements and may differ. Check thread pitch, left- or right-hand thread, shank length, bearing width, material and the manufacturer's application and load specifications.

Match spherical bearings to the correct cup bore, width and retention arrangement. For misalignment spacers, check bearing bore, bolt diameter, installed stack width and available articulation. A spacer that fits the bore does not establish suitability for the complete joint.

Bushes, sleeves and vehicle fitment

Compare bush material, inside and outside diameters, overall length, shoulder dimensions and matching sleeves. For vehicle-specific bush kits and tie rod ends, confirm the exact vehicle, suspension arrangement and mounting position. Check whether a listing supplies one bush, a pair or a complete kit.

Follow the instructions for the particular bearing or bush, including lubrication and inspection requirements. Do not assume every PTFE-lined bearing or sealed joint has the same maintenance requirements.

Limiting straps and mounting hardware

Select limiting straps and clevis hardware for the planned suspension travel and mounting layout. Confirm how strap length is measured, the manufacturer's allowance for stretch, mounting-hole dimensions and clearance throughout travel. Straps are not a substitute for correctly designed suspension stops and mounts.

Match jam nuts to the rod-end thread size, pitch and handedness. Check protective-boot size and clearance, and confirm the contents of reservoir-mount and other hardware listings.

A dimensional match alone does not establish suitability for a load-bearing suspension or steering assembly.
